Holistic Counselling
Supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, burnout, and identity challenges.
for Individuals
A Place to Feel Understood
With 14 years in private practice and over 20 years as an educator, I am committed to helping individuals feel validated, heard, and empowered.
Life's challenges don't always arrive through crisis. Sometimes they emerge gradually through patterns of self-criticism, perfectionism, people-pleasing, over-responsibility, or constantly placing the needs of others ahead of our own. Over time, these patterns can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves, uncertain of our identity, and questioning what truly matters.
My approach is grounded in the belief that lasting change begins with curiosity, compassion, and self-understanding. Together, we can explore the experiences, relationships, expectations, and beliefs that have shaped your journey, while creating space to reconnect with your values, needs, boundaries, and authentic sense of self.
My aim is to provide a supportive and collaborative space where you can feel safe to slow down, reflect, and move towards greater confidence, self-worth, and wellbeing.
I provide support for a range of concerns, including:
Perfectionism and high expectations
Self-worth and identity
Anxiety, stress and overwhelm
Burnout and exhaustion
Overworking and overperforming
Relationship challenges
Boundaries and people pleasing
Sexuality and gender identity
Nervous system support
Depression and low mood
Experiences of grief and loss
Life transitions
My Approach
My approach to counselling is holistic and trauma-informed, integrating evidence-based frameworks, neuroscience, and gentle complementary practices. I aim to create a safe, warm, and nonjudgmental space where you can explore your concerns, develop self-awareness, and cultivate greater meaning and connection in your life.
Working collaboratively and intuitively, I meet you where you are, supporting you to move at a pace that feels right for you. By taking a strengths-based approach, I recognise you as the expert in your own life and encourage self-determination, agency, and lasting change.
Together, we look beyond labels to better understand emotions, nervous system responses, body symptoms, health challenges, and life experiences. Rather than focusing solely on what is wrong, we explore the deeper patterns and protective strategies that have developed throughout your life with curiosity, compassion, and respect.
My work draws from trauma-informed counselling, neuroscience, attachment theory, polyvagal-informed practice, somatic approaches, breathwork, Evidence Based Emotional Freedom Technique (EBEFT), and mindfulness-based approaches. Where appropriate, I also integrate accessible psychoeducation, handouts, and digital resources to support your learning and wellbeing between sessions.

Understanding Through Experience
My approach weaves together formal training, years of professional practice, and insights gained through lived experience.
Both professionally and personally, I have witnessed how easy it can be to become disconnected from ourselves through striving, responsibility, illness, expectations, and life's many demands. This understanding informs my commitment to creating a space where you can feel seen, supported, and met with compassion and curiosity rather than judgment or criticism.
Every therapeutic journey is unique. The reflections below offer a glimpse into the experiences of past clients:
“Jessica’s unique demeanour is always calm and warm, her counselling both knowledgeable and nurturing. She is professional but also has a very special, personal approach and individual touch. She has brilliant strategies for combatting self-doubt, nerves, negative thoughts and fears.
When I was faced with some incredibly stressful situations, decisions and challenges, Jess offered an unbiased perspective, provided strategies and was there to help pick up the pieces.
Jessica’s experience, knowledge and genuine care are a rare breath of fresh air.”
—Ashlea
“You meet many people in life. The people closest to you bring you happiness. The people you admire give you the power to dream. And then there are the people that help you. When situations are overwhelming, and life takes the form of a mountain, the ones who guide you are the greatest gift of all! Thank you for the comfort you bring into my life Jess.”
—Dani
“Jess is a very warm and positive individual… a great listener who catered to my needs. Jess helped me work towards my goals by showing me how to focus and find peace within myself. Working with her has been an absolute pleasure. Thank you for opening my eyes to so many new things.”
—Andrea
“An instant rapport evolved when I first met Jess. This has gone from strength to strength as has the connection with my daughter through her inspiring work. Jess’s nurturing manner and exceptional ability has given her the confidence and scope to pursue goals previously only dreamt of.
During moments of adverse circumstances and personal challenge, Jess’ support and words of encouragement were invaluable. By collaborating with Jess, we have gently navigated a path that best suits my daughter. We feel blessed to have her in our lives.”
—Penny

My aim is to provide a space where you can feel safe to express yourself authentically and where your experiences, identity, and needs are respected. I am committed to ongoing learning, reflection, and culturally responsive practice.
Outcomes
-
Many people arrive at counselling feeling stuck, lost, or disconnected from themselves. Together, we can explore the experiences, beliefs, relationships, and patterns that have shaped your journey, cultivating greater self-awareness, clarity, and understanding of your needs, values, and aspirations.
-
Perfectionism, self-criticism, and people-pleasing can gradually erode our confidence and sense of worth. Counselling can support you to develop a more compassionate relationship with yourself, recognise your strengths, and cultivate a sense of worth that is not dependent on achievement, productivity, or external validation.
-
Many individuals find themselves prioritising the needs of others while neglecting their own. Together, we can explore healthier boundaries, strengthen self-trust, and create space for more authentic relationships, choices, and ways of being that feel aligned with who you are.
-
Lasting change often involves learning to relate differently to stress, expectations, and the demands of daily life. Through greater self-awareness, nervous system support, and practical coping strategies, counselling can help you move towards a way of living that feels more balanced, meaningful, and sustainable.
